With the release of Samsung Note 10 series, and Apple’s iPhone 11 series, it’s time for Huawei, the next smartphone giant to reveals its upcoming flagships for late 2019 – Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. While most of the leaks are focusing on the Pro version, which will retain its large notch, a new image surfaced today at Weibo giving us a glimpse of the standard variant’s front panel.
Of course, the images above should make us question why this notch is called “bigger” when in fact it is smaller than the cutout on Mate 30 Pro’s display. The fact is that while the Pro variant of Huawei Mate 20 came with a wide notch, the standard Mate 20 had a smaller one. So, the Huawei Mate 30 will sport a notch that is wider and probably taller than the last year’s model.
Gizchina News of the week
We can’t explain why Huawei has decided to make the notch bigger. There’s a reason for its size on the Pro version, after all, the device will come with advanced facial recognition features. The same technology probably won’t fit in the Mate 30 Pro notch, so could be Huawei equipping the handset with a secondary selfie camera? That the Chinese Behemoth has another secret on its sleeves.
Since both devices will become official on September 19, we’ll probably know what it’s about soon enough. Anyway if you don’t like notches of any kind, then Huawei’s Mate 30 series won’t be your cup of tea.
