Today, there were reports that the Sony Xperia 5 will be released in Shanghai on September 24th. This smartphone was first announced at IFA2019 in Berlin, Germany. Sony Xperia 5 jumped straight from Xperia 1. The Sony Xperia 5 comes with an $860 (£699) price tag. Pre-orders for the phone is already available for select European countries.
Looking at the design of the phone, it’s what we’ve come to expect from the Xperia line over the years. The Xperia 5 has much slimmer bezels at the front and a 21:9 CinemaWide aspect ratio in a very familiar boxy glass-metal build topped by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. This device has a 6.1-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with a resolution of 2520 × 1080. It also supports DCI-P3 colour gamut. The dimension is 158 x 68.3 x 8.2 mm and it weighs about 164g. On the hardware side, the Sony Xperia 5 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The Xperia flagship has a triple rear camera setup. There’s a 12MP primary Exmor RS sensor with f/1.6 aperture and 1.4um pixel size, a 12MP 135-degree ultra-wide sensor, and a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 960fps slow-mo. The front has an 8MP Exmor RS selfie shooter. The Xperia 5 runs Android 9.0 Pie backed by a 3,140mAh battery and will come in Blue, Black, Red, and Gray paint coats. This phone uses a USB Type-C interface and has no headphone jack.
