Barely a few weeks after the Redmi 7A launch, Redmi is now back with a significantly upgraded Redmi 8a. Xiaomi announced today that India will be the first market to receive the super-affordable handset with a launch on the 25th of September. The past couple of months have been crazy in India with most OEMs trying to cash in on the Diwali buying frenzy. The Redmi 8A comes with a handful of big upgrades as its TENAA appearance has previously confirmed.
Gizchina News of the week
From the 5.5-inch screen of the Redmi 7A, the Redmi 8A makes the jump to a 6.2-inch HD+ screen with a teardrop notch and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The processor isn’t confirmed but a Snapdragon 439 SoC is tipped to be inside the chassis. The big bump will be on the battery side though as a 5,000mAh cell should make this an endurance beast in combination with the HD+ screen.
The other interesting aspect should be pricing, as it is always with Xiaomi. The Redmi 7A costs Rs 5,999 and if Xiaomi can pull off the same feat again, this may very well become their next top seller in the segment. The handset will compete with the likes of the Realme C2 in the same bracket. The Redmi 8A is said to come in three variants- 2GB+16GB, 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB.
