Google will soon no longer automatically store requests submitted to its assistant. This summer, the giants Google, Amazon and Apple had to admit that some voice commands submitted to their assistants are recorded and transcribed by human operators.

According to these firms, the employees listen to only a tiny part of the recordings. And the process aims only to improve the service by verifying that the command is correctly understood. The explanations put forward did not of course convince, and in the face of the complaints of their users, they jointly announced that they temporarily suspended the transcription, and the analysis of voice commands.

According to Google, the listened users were aware that they had given their agreement by activating the setting “Video and Voice Activity”. Nevertheless, the description of the option was not clear enough to understand what it means. The description will now be clearer. And Google must put in place additional security to avoid recognizing the author of a record.

If you have a fear that the assistant will record your conversations without your knowledge. It will also be possible to stop this option. Amazon and Apple have not yet expressed the measures they will take. As for Google, it has not communicated the date from which the announced changes will be effective.
