After a troublesome initial release, the Galaxy Fold is finally available for customers. Of course, its availability still is quite limited but will expand in the coming weeks. According to reports, the foldable smartphone will make its way to the US later this week and soon will be available in the UK. Now, speculations are emerging pointing that Samsung is working a separate affordable version of the Galaxy Fold.

Hold your breath technology-lover! Making an affordable Galaxy Fold doesn’t mean that Samsung is bringing it to the mid-range segment. The original variant is truly expensive ($1,980) and reducing just a few numbers would make it more affordable. A Samsung smartphone bearing aSM-F700F model number surfaced with half the built-in storage (256GB) of the original variant. In addition, we expect it with less RAM than the original 12GB, probably 8GB. It’s unclear which price point Samsung is targeting.

Furthermore, we can’t say if Samsung will downgrade some components or remove features to adjust the price. Of course, the Foldable Display and features should remain intact. Also, any kind of redesign could be dangerous. We don’t need to remember you how bad design choices affected the Galaxy Fold launch.

We may have to wait until next year to find out. However, there’s still a lot of time in 2019 for a new launch. After all, Samsung already released all the flagships expected for this year.
