Xiaomi has just announced one of its newest phone in time for the Big Billion Days sale in India. The short-lived Redmi 7A is now making way for the new Redmi 8A and the new iteration has some big upgrades at a reasonable price point. The Redmi 8A comes with a new attractive design, a solid battery with fast charge, a bigger display, and much more.
Specifications
In terms of design, the Redmi 8A has a polycarbonate build but the rear has what Xiaomi calls an Aura Wave Grip design. The Redmi 8A features a 6.22-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with Xiaomi’s dot notch design. It has a 19:9 aspect ratio, 720×1520 pixel resolution, with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. There’s P2i splash-proof coatings as well. The processor is the Snapdragon 439 SoC which is a pretty entry-level chip from Qualcomm.
Gizchina News of the week
The rear camera is a 12MP Sony IMX 363 sensor while the front also gets an upgraded 8MP sensor. It supports AI face unlock because there’s no fingerprint reader. The 5,000mAh battery is a very good increment here, especially with its Type-C fast charging capacity, however, the device comes with a 10W (5V/2A) in the box. It runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10.
Pricing
Redmi 8A has been priced starting at Rs. 6,499 for the 2GB+32GB base variant. You will have to shell only Rs. 500 more to grab the higher 3GB RAM variant, with 32GB storage. Sales start from September 29, exclusively on Mi.com and Flipkart.
