OnePlus officially enters the Smart TV market and does so with a product that was often anticipated in the past few weeks. OnePlus TV is a real hub for the smart home, which took more than 14 months to develop. It is a device that “redefines the Smart TV experience”, equipped with a 55″ Vertical Alignment QLED-backlit panel with 4K resolution. Four are the pillars on which OnePlus is based for its new product: High quality panel, Surround sound, aesthetics and easy to use operating system.
OnePlus TV offers the highest color gamut available on the market (120% NTSC) and can rely on Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ technologies for extremely high picture and sound quality. There are 8 speakers available in the Q1 Pro variant – 2 woofers in the soundbar (removable), 4 fronts and 2 tweeters for a total of 50W – and 4 in the basic model, while the QLED panel has been “customized” to further improve performance. a Quality that is also guaranteed by the custom chip and image processing algorithms. The heart is the MediaTek MT5670 processor, Cortex-A53 quad-core CPU clocked at up to 1.5GHz.
OnePlus TV is finally here
OnePlus Connect allows you to connect your smartphone to the TV to interact with the device even more easily. Not only that, but with Alexa, it is possible to switch on the TV and access the Oxygen Play interface based on Android TV (9 Pie) which can be controlled directly from the smartphone with the touch controls and the keyboard and with the voice via Google Assistant. Oxygen Play is, therefore, the platform that will show the user all the available contents, including the main video streaming services including Amazon Prime Video (Netflix, for example, will be coming soon).

Alternatively, it is always possible to use the remote control which is recharged via USB Type-C. Among the (few) keys there is one dedicated to Amazon’s streaming service.

Here in Europe you can buy a Philips or a LG with OLED displays for almost the same price. I don’t have any doubt that this Oneplus TV will be a good option, but for these prices OLED TVs are in another league. That’s my opinion and I am the proud owner of a OPO and a Oneplus 5 and I love oxygen OS.
