This week was quite something for Xiaomi’s enthusiasts. After releasing the Mi Mix Alpha and the Mi 9 Pro 5G, the Chinese company announced their plans for the next version of its legendary Android-skin – MIUI 11. In the day of the announcement, the Chinese firm started to deploy some builds for the Closed beta program. It was limited to users who signed via WeChat app. Today, the Chinese company is seeding the Open Beta release for some users residing in China.
Users who are interested in having a taste of Xiaomi’s latest MIUI software can now do so before the stable version is released at a later point. Of course, if you’re feeling adventurous enough to try an unfinished product, have in mind that some bugs may pop out during your usage. There are two specific methods to install the MIUI 11 update in eligible devices.
Gizchina News of the week
- OTA (over the air) update to latest MIUI 11 if you are running a development version of MIUI 10.
- If you are running on a stable version of MIUI 10 build, you will have to clear your data and manually install the package. We recommend to backup all your data before proceeding.
Some of the key features of MIUI 11 include a dedicated Children’s mode and Earthquake warning. In addition, there is family sharing, system-wide dark mode, new icons, and smoother animations. While Xiaomi is yet to announce the official release of MIUI 11, speculations point out to a mid-October release. Take in mind that these dates are valid for China, Global customers will probably have to wait a little longer.
