The 2019 iPhones have just been revealed, but we’re already hearing the first talks about the next year’s handsets. First, we’ve heard rumors about a deep redesign on 2020 iPhones. Now we are hearing reports about the 5G availability on the next year’s models. According to Seeking Alpha, JP Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee says that 2019 iPhones will do better than the “silent expectations”. However, the next year will be even better thanks to the 5G iPhones debut.
5G iPhone sales “will drive high investor confidence in the sustainability of revenue growth even in the backdrop of a mature smartphone market”. We don’t know if 5G will be available for all iPhone models in the next year, or it will be limited to the premium variants. However, they will reportedly increase Apple’s revenue generated from mobile handsets.
Gizchina News of the week
During this year we’ve seen a couple of companies starting to bet on the next-gen connectivity. However, most of countries and carriers are still getting ready for 5G. There are a couple of smartphones in the market with the latest connectivity support. In the U.S, carriers are starting to offer it in certain market. However, a wide availability should only come in the next year. And that’s not a situation that is only limited to the U.S. Most countries are offering 5G in a limited scale, the big switch to the next-gen connectivity is expected for the coming years.
What’s more interesting about 5G is that it will not only allow ultra-fast download speeds on-the-go but will also allow new technologies and companies to take advantage of the new connectivity. The global economy should get a considerable boost thanks to 5G.
5G iPhones should have more than just… 5G.
Besides 5G support, the 2020 iPhones are rumored to ship with new screen sizes. Assuming that Apple calls next year’s models iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro Max could come with a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen. The iPhone 12 Pro could sport a smaller 5.4-inch AMOLED display and the iPhone 12 a 6.1-inch AMOLED screen. They will ship with Apple’s A14 Bionic and will feature a smaller notch.
