The Chinese phone maker, that stole some headlines back in the day, Coolpad has released a new smartphone in India. It carries the Coolpad Cool 5 and comes with specifications that mark it as an entry-level device.
The Coolpad Cool 5 boasts a 6.22-inch 19:9 display with 720p+ resolution and small bezels on all four sides. Worth noting that there’s a small waterdrop notch at the top of the display to house the selfie camera. Under the hood, the Cool 5 is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P22 chipset. It’s a 12nm chipset with entry-level performance. Furthermore, the device is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Thankfully, the handset supports microSD cards allowing further memory expansion (up to 128GB).

The camera department brings a dual rear setup comprising of a 13MP main and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, we can find a 16MP camera living inside the aformentioned notch. Around the back, the smartphone features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. A gradient finish completes the premium-looking design of the smartphone.
A 4,000mAh battery will provide the Cool 5 with energy, it charges via a USB Type-C port. Sadly, Coolpad didn’t specify the exact amount of power provided by the charging system. The smartphone runs Android 9 Pie with Coolpad skin running atop.
The Cool 5 retails for INR7,999 ($110/€105) and is available for purchase in India through Amazon.in.
