The CNET team has decided to do a live test to see if the Galaxy Fold resists 200,000 folds, and they are broadcasting the test live on YouYube.
SquareTrade, an extended warranty service provider based in San Francisco, has recently built a machine called FoldBot to test the durability of the device hinges, and CNET decided to borrow that machine and test the device on it.
At the time of writing this article, the fold counter has surpassed 100,000. The test is expected to end later today.
It remains to be seen if this unit is capable of withstanding the test. Another SquareTrade test found that the hinge deteriorated after 120,000 folds and an imperfection appeared on the screen after 18,500 folds, something Samsung is investigating.
