POCOPHONE global head, Alvin Tse has been given new duties at Xiaomi starting yesterday. Alvin Tse has been heading POCOPHONE since its inception but he has been moved to Xiaomi Indonesia’s head. The news comes months after POCO’s Head of Product, Jai Mani also left Xiaomi in July 2019. Moreover, C Manmohan who was formerly General Manager at POCO was also moved to the Online Sales Manager role at Xiaomi India. Alvin, however, hasn’t completely renounced his POCO duties though as he still heads POCOPHONE, however, it’s clear that these drastic changes don’t bode well for the rumoured POCO F2.

Xiaomi says that it plans to increase its reach and products in Indonesia and Alvin’s arrival will help hasten that goal. Alvin has been with Xiaomi sice 2013 and has moved through a number of roles and the position of GM is the biggest one yet. Coming to the topic of the POCO F2, its predecessor, the POCO F1 was heavily discounted on Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale and was selling for as low as Rs 14,999 which could be an attempt by the company to offload inventory. There has been long-standing speculation that the POCO F2 will arrive for certain, but these big changes in the one-year-old sub-brand’s top hierarchy signals the opposite.
