Apple is very apprehensive when it comes to leaving its smartphones to third-party unlocking. However, this does not mean that no one can crack it. According to US media reports, since January 2018, law enforcement officers in New York City have been able to crack the iPhones internally. However, it is the claim by an Israeli company that is currently making the headline. The company said
“Cellebrite Advanced Services (CAS) labs provide worldwide support for unlocking and extracting data from all Apple iOS devices up to iOS 12.4.2, and high-running Android devices including Samsung S10, S10e, and S10+”
In June 2019, an Israeli company, Cellebrite, announced that its UFED Premium product will allow customers to unlock the iPhone in their office for the first time without having to send it to the company lab. According to Shahar Tal, Vice President of Cellebrite’s Security Research Labs
Gizchina News of the week
“No other vendor comes close to the level of support we provide for bypassing locked devices for the most challenging cases,” Tal said. “Take, for example, Secure Startup, which is an encryption mode. Two years ago, we were the first in the world to offer support for that feature. To this day, no other vendor has managed to support it.”
According to Cellebrite, it can bypass the phone lock and perform full file system extraction on any iOS device. It can also perform physical extraction or full file system extraction on many high-end Android devices. It can also access third-party application data. Chat conversations, email downloads, email attachments, and even deleted content are accessible. We do not know if UFED Premium from Cellebrite can crack devices running iOS 13. However, Cellebrite’s official website said it can unlock all iPhones.
