The smartphone industry is consistently evolving and there is an increasing need for innovation. One aspect of consistent modification over the past two years is the display. In a bid to get a full-screen display, all sorts of solutions have been employed. We have seen the use of a notch, water-drop, pop-up (regular, flip or dolphin design), slide screen, etc. All these solutions seek to accommodate the front camera so as to create more space for the display. Now, a new Xiaomi patent shows that the company has other solutions.
Gizchina News of the week
The Xiaomi patent has four designs. The four new designs place the dual-front cameras at the top edges of the smartphone. The major difference between three of these designs is the way the bezel curves around the camera sensor. One of the patents still has a thick top bezel for the camera. It is the only patent that has a rear fingerprint sensor. This implies that this design is probably for a mid-range or entry-level device. The rear camera design also varies but its nothing special.
Beijing Xiaomi mobile software Co. LTD used these images in a design patent filing at the Hague International Design System. It contains data regarding new international registrations, renewals, and modifications affecting existing international registrations. The database is also managed by the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office).
