Huawei P40 series to come with dual OS (Android & Harmony)

Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, already has its own system, HongMeng or Harmony OS. This system is not ready for smartphones. According to Huawei’s top officials, it can develop the Harmony OS to be on par with iOS in two to three years. Although Huawei’s system is not ready, the company has always said that it will use it on its smartphones if Google’s ban persists. As we all know, the Huawei Mate 30 series comes with Android 10 but can not use Google’s services. This means that the Mate 30 series is a huge “NO” outside China. Now, there are speculations that the upcoming Huawei P40 series will use dual OS – it will come with both Harmony OS and Android. There is no official confirmation of this report thus it is best to take it with a grain of salt.

Huawei earlier said that the first phone with Harmony OS will arrive in the first half of 2020. At present, Huawei’s layout of the Harmony OS is quite fast. The Huawei P40 series will probably arrive in March next year. Meanwhile, the Harmony OS has been used in devices such as Honor Smart Screen. 

The Huawei P40 series will come with the Kirin 990 processor and will have a 5G version. It will adopt a lifting full-screen design with five rear cameras. The main camera is a 64MP sensor and there will be a ToF camera. It appears that Huawei wants to slowly introduce the Harmony OS to the phone market even in China. The dual-OS plan will give users an option especially for Chinese users who will not like the output of Harmony OS. It will also give Huawei the chance to get feedback from users on its new system.
