At the Huawei 5G conference which held in Shenzhen, China, the company released multiple 5G products. The likes of Huawei Mate X 5G and Mate 30 series 5G version hit the Chinese market today. However, Huawei announced that its second foldable phone will arrive in March next year. This smartphone dubbed Huawei Mate Xs will also use the Kirin 990 5G processor.
As of now, we do not know the exact specs or price of this smartphone, just the arrival date. The Huawei Mate X has two versions. The earlier version (MWC 2019 launch) uses a Kirin 980 SoC + Balong 5000 5G baseband. In addition, it comes with a triple rear camera setup, 4500 mAh battery, and 55W fast charge. Nevertheless, the lastest Mate X comes with a quad-rear camera setup and a Kirin 990 5G processor. It uses a 40MP main camera + 8MP telephoto lens + 16MP super wide-angle lens + a 3D deep-sensing camera. It also supports ISO 204800, 45x zoom range (3x optical, 30x digital zoom), 2.5cm super macro shooting, and OIS+AIS super anti-shake.

Huawei Mate Xs will upgrade to the Kirin 990 5G which is the industry’s first chip to use TSMC 7nm+EUV Extreme UV. This lithography process integrates as many as 10.3 billion transistors. It is also the industry’s first chips with tens of billions of SoCs. Furthermore, the board size reduces by 36% relative to the previous generation. Kirin 990 5G uses two large cores (developed based on Cortex-A76) + two large cores (developed based on Cortex-A76) + four small core (Cortex-A55). Its Mali-G76 GPU combines 23% better CPU performance, 39% GPU performance, and 460% NPU performance.
