Xiaomi patent a foldable device with punch-hole camera

Next year, we expect more foldable smartphones to hit the market. Huawei will release the Huawei Mate Xs in March and Samsung also has a foldable phone for nexxt year. However, other OEMs like Xiaomi are also in the game. At the beginning of this year, Xiaomi teased a foldable device that speculations claims will be called Xiaomi Mi Fold or Mi Flex. This device is yet to see the light of day. However, Xiaomi has recently been granted a patent with CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) for a foldable phone. This phone comes with punch hole cameras.

Xiaomi already has the Mi Mix Alpha with an inflexible display. The split display of this new Xiaomi patent folds right and left to the back, ensuring the shape of a normal smartphone. At the rear, there are at least two cameras that sit far apart when expanded. It appears that these sensors sit close to each other when the device is folded.

Nevertheless, a patent does not mean a final device. Like many other manufacturers, Xiaomi develops some ideas that may not be implemented. However, we will say more about the device when Xiaomi shows the final foldable smartphone and not just prototypes or patents.
