Xiaomi Mi 8 SE receives Android 10-based MIUI 11 update with October Security patch

Xiaomi is busy keeping its promise of bringing MIUI 11 to all eligible smartphones. After providing an update for the old Mi 6, the Chinese company is bringing MIUI 11 for the last year’s Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. In counterpart to the former, which has received an Android Pie-based MIUI 11, the Mi 8 SE update brings Android 10 to the table. In addition to the latest version of Google OS, the update also introduces October 2019 security patch.

Worth noting that update is still far from being stable and some apps don’t work well. However, it’s great to see the progress that Xiaomi is making with this release. The new update will provide another design overhaul to Xiaomi’s Android skin. It will start with softer app icons, a system-wide dark theme, a new Mi Lan Pro system font, and a further improved Always-On display mode. Besides that, there are several new animations, themes, and wallpapers coming along with MIUI 11. The Notification system was improved as well.

Xiaomi is going deep in the sound optimizations with MIUI 11. The new update brings all-new dynamic natural sound effects and alarms. Moreover, the company also added a new Mi Go Travel suite which will help you with booking tickets for a broad range of transport. It ranges from airplane to rail and bus and includes currency conversion. The last addition is a more capable extreme power-saving mode.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE update isn’t ready for a daily basis

If you’re running a developer version of MIUI, you’ll receive the update via OTA. However, if you’re on a stable release, you’ll need to manually install the entire update in your Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. Take in mind that it weighs over 2GB. Xiaomi advises that this isn’t a stable release, for that reason, it isn’t recommended for a daily basis. Last but not least, the company recommends to backup all data before proceeding.
