Samsung’s bet in the new trend for foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Fold, was announced back in February. However, the smartphone faced issues after its launch. Thus forcing the company to collect all the units and start a race to fix the design flaws. Several months after its announcement, Samsung managed to fix the issues with the display and launched the foldable handset in a couple of select markets.
The updated Galaxy Fold is currently available for purchase in several countries including the domestic market of South Korea, the USA and India. Now, internal sources suggest that the foldable smartphone will be available in another strong market – China. The foldable smartphone will reach the Chinese stronghold on November 8 at a price of CNY 14,999 ($ 2120).
Gizchina News of the week
According to Samsung’s report, 500,000 units of the Galaxy Fold have been sold. The company also expects it to go out of stock soon after its launch in China. Worth noting that 5G capabilities of this smartphone will count in favor during its campaign in China. After all, the country is one of the most advanced countries in the 5G race.
The only major challenge for the Galaxy Fold in China will be direct competition with its major rival – The Huawei Mate X. We don’t need to say that the Huawei’s foldable smartphone probably has some territorial advantages.
