Lu Weibing: Xiaomi will focus on Europe in 2020

According to a recent market research report from Canalys, Samsung dominates the European market with a 35.7% market share. Huawei, Apple, and Xiaomi come second, third and fourth respectively with 22.2%, 18.6%, and 10.5% market share. In terms of mobile phone shipments, Samsung is first with 18.7 million while Huawei is second with 11.6 million. Furthermore, Apple and Xiaomi shipped 9.8 million and 5.5 million units respectively. Redmi’s general manager, Lu Weibing, responds to the performance of Xiaomi mobile phone in the European market.

According to Lu Weibing, in 2020, Xiaomi aims to break through Europe’s high-end products market. He said that Xiaomi/Redmi mobile phone market share in Q3 2019 of this year exceeded 10%, an increase of 73%. Good products “with kind prices are moving people”. This is also possible in high-income countries/markets. 

In addition to the European market, Counterpoint Research data shows that in the Indian mobile phone market, Xiaomi continues to lead its online smartphone market with a market share of 38%. Realme is second and it grew 4.5 times year-on-year. Samsung ranks third with its new M-series phones. In fourth position is another Chinese manufacturer, Vivo – it also ranks first in the low-end smartphone market. OnePlus ranks fifth and in the high-end market in India, its business grew by 79% year-on-year.
