After months of speculation, MediaTek finally took the wraps off its first 5G chipset. However, it’s much more than a simple chipset with support for the next-gen network. It’s a flagship SoC with some steroids in! Dubbed as MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000, the SoC breaks a milestone for the Taiwanese firm with 4 x ARM Cortex-A77 performance cores and a Mali-G77 GPU. The Dimensity 1000 is built in the 7nm process which offers great power at a low energy expense. Despite this fact, MediaTek managed to crush the competition with its 5G SoC. The new SoC passed by the Chinese benchmarking tool AnTuTu with bells and whistles achieving an impressive score of 511,363.

For instance, the chipset manages to overcome both Snapdragon 855+ and A13 Bionic powered devices. Those are Qualcomm and Apple’s flagship offering, respectively. For reference, the Asus ROG Phone ll managed 496,226 while the iPhone 11 Pro Max sits at 456,065. Of course, we can’t take these results as a reference for real-world usage. However, they are a good sample of MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000 power.
The new chipset scored 161,266 in the CPU tasks and 196,097 on the GPU department. Interestingly enough, the CPU score is the highest seen on AnTuTu thus far. Besides these two tasks, we have 84,463 for the Memory and 69,537 on the UX test.
