Back in September, Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 8 and 8 Pro in China. However, the company decided to release these smartphones in India on October 21st, 2019. Despite the late release, these smartphones already crossed the 1 million shipments mark in the Indian stronghold. It’s a good show of how the Redmi Note series is keeping popularity in the world’s second smartphone market. In order to keep the heat over its Note series, the company is releasing a new Cosmic Purple color option for the regular Redmi Note 8.

The new fancy color will join Space Black, Neptune Blue and Moonlight White colors of the Note 8 available in India. Furthermore, the company will give two options for users jumping in the new color – 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB. These two options will retail for INR9,999 ($140/€130) and INR12,999 ($180/€165) respectively. Users will be able to purchase the new color from November 29 through Mi.com and Mi Home stores.
The Redmi Note 8, obviously isn’t the most powerful of the duo, but it still gets some popularity. Especially if you’re not a fan of MediaTek chipsets. The Redmi Note 8 keeps up with the Snapdragon 665, while the 8 Pro made a controversial change to MediaTek’s Helio G90T. Besides the new chipset, the Note 8 also comes with an upgraded Quad-Camera setup with a 48MP leading the way. Other than that, the handset feels like an incremental upgrade over the Redmi Note 7, even falling against the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
