According to reports, Shenzhen has basically achieved full coverage of broadband networks. This makes it China’s first 5G independent networking city. By the end of this year, it will have 15,000 5G base stations. By the end of August 2020, it will have 45,000 base stations which will deliver a full 5G coverage.

As of the end of November, Shenzhen has 13,000 5G base stations. Earlier, Shenzhen announced several measures to take the lead in achieving full coverage of 5G infrastructure and promoting high-quality development of the 5G industry. Among them, telecom operators who complete the construction of 5G base stations on time will be awarded 10,000 yuan ($1420) for base stations constructed in an independent networking mode. This means that a single telecom operator could get as much as 150 million yuan ($21.3 million).
