The Honor V30 launched at the beginning of last week is looking out to be one of the most interesting handsets on the market. Honor’s phone has indeed showed off some pretty impressive connectivity skills; beating both an iPhone 11 and different 5G devices. While today the company announced the V30 is getting a new e-book mode.
Honor V30 Comes with an E-Book Mode for a Kindle-Like Reading Experience
According to Honor, the e-book mode we’ll find on the smartphone isn’t just a gimmick. Instead it utilizes a patented technology to change color temperature, brightness and set the correct grey scale. This will allow for a better reading experience while reducing eye fatigue.
Enabling e-book mode is pretty straight forward. All you have to do it slide down the notification bar and turn it on from the quick button. As we can see in the examples below, the mode doesn’t just chance the color temperature to a yellow tint, which is what “eye-protection” modes usually do, but it makes it look more natural, much more similar to an actual paper book.
Gizchina News of the week
Well, we should probably say more similar to an Amazon Kindle, which itself tries to get as close as possible to the real thing. Of course though, the effect won’t be as good, but given the fact that it is a “free” feature and it appears to be very similar, electronic book lovers should definitely enjoy the functionality.
Additionally, the Chinese website that posted this first testing also compared e-book mode and reading mode. As you’ve probably guessed, the smartphone on the right is using reading mode (or eye protection mode); thus the very yellowish tint.
Either way, both the reading mode and e-book mode will take advantage of the large 6.57-inch display with TUV Rheinland certification. This certificate basically means the smartphone emits a small amount of blue light; which is of course good for the eyes.
