Following the Vivo S5 launched back in November, Chinese phone maker Vivo is back with yet another device featuring the unique diamond-shaped rear camera setup – meet the Vivo Y9s.
Vivo Y9s Launched with Snapdragon 665 and Diamond-Shaped Rear Camera Setup
Vivo’s Y9s is a mid-range phone coming with an averagely sized 6.38-inch display of the AMOLED type sporting Full HD+ resolution and a screen to body ratio of 90%. On the display of the Y9s we do not find any punch-hole like on the Vivo S5 though; instead the brand went with a more ordinary and probably more affordable front notch. Inside the display we also have a fingerprint scanner; while beneath it we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (not expandable).
The most interesting hardware components are found on the back of the device, though. The Vivo Y9s does indeed pack a total of four cameras including a main 48MP sensor paired with an f/1.8 aperture lens; followed by a secondary 8MP ultra wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture; a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 2MP depth of field sensor to snap photos with the fancy bokeh effect. Finally, we find an LED flash below to complete the diamond-like arrangement.

As far as selfies are concerned, Vivo’s phone packs a single 32MP selfie snapper at the front; along with various beautify features and an f/2.0 aperture lens.
The Vivo Y9s is fueled by a 4500mAh capacity battery with support for 18W fast charge dual-engine technology. Other specs include an USB Type-C port at the bottom, a 3.5mm audio jack and WiFi 2.4G/5.1G/5.8G.
Meanwhile software-wise, the device runs Funtouch OS 9 based on Android 9; bringing features such as the Jovi assistant, multi-turbo technology and face unlock.
Vivo’s Y9s is now on sale in China for 1998 Yuan, around $285 at the current exchange rates.
