The day has finally come, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has unveiled the Redmi K30 and its 5G counterpart. However, this isn’t only piece technology revealed in the event. Today, Redmi is also unveiling the RedmiBook 13 with a narrow-edge display. Redmi’s new laptop takes on Huawei’s MateBook 13 that came with 4.4mm thick bezels and an 88% screen-to-body ratio. The RedmiBook 13 gives a step further reaching an 89% screen-to-body ratio.
Moreover, the RedmiBook comes with a custom fan that increases the air volume by 25% along with reduced noise by two decibels over what we saw on earlier RedmiBook models. Under the hood, the RedmiBook 13 is packed with the 10th generation Intel Core processor.
RedmiBook 13 specifications and features
When it comes to specifications, the RedmiBook 13 features a 13.3-inch anti-glare display with FullHD resolution. Moreover, it has a 178-degree viewing angle and an 89% screen-to-body ratio. The laptop come in two chipset flavors – one more affordable with the 10th gen Core i5 SoC and a more expensive unit with the 10th gen Core i7 chipset. The Nvidia GeForce MX250 ensures graphics power and there’s also 8GB DDR4 RAM clocked at 2,666MHz.

Xiaomi ensures a solid thermal management thanks to a system that includes a dual-heat pipe with a 6mm diameter. The notebook features a premium metal body. Moreover, there is a chiclet-style keyboard and DTS surround sound audio support. The company states that the RedmiBook 13 battery is capable of delivering up to 11 hours of backup on a single charge. It also comes with a fast-charging system capable of charging around 50% in just 35 minutes.
RedmiBook 13 price and availability
The initial price for the RedmiBook 13 comes at CNY4,199 (~$596 / €539) for the package including Intel Core i5 processor along with 8GB of RAM and 512GB SSD. If you’re going for the Core i7 variant, it will set you back CNY5,199 (~$738 / €667 ). According to the company, the notebook will go on pre-order in China starting today. The wide availability, however, will begin from Thursday, December 12.
There’s no word yet about international availability, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the laptop making its global debut during CES 2020.
