Apart from making smartphones, Xiaomi is also known for a variety of other products ranging from IoT to lifestyle and more. A couple of months back, the company launched the Redmi Note 8 series in India. And now, it has introduced ‘Mi Protective Glass’ in partnership with Corning for the Redmi Note 8 Pro. It is already on sale for ₹399 on Mi.com.

Gizchina News of the week

Though the Redmi Note 8 Pro features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides for better durability, it is always better to have a screen protector applied on the screen. In the long run, even Gorilla Glass tends to get scratches after wearing off of the oleophobic coating. That being said, there are a ton of screen protectors available from a number of known and unknown brands. And thus to offer better quality products, Xiaomi itself has made a tempered glass dubbed as ‘Mi Protective Glass’ by implementing Corning’s Accessory Glass.

According to the product listing on Mi.com, the Accessory Glass used in ‘Mi Tempered Glass’ is made of alkali-aluminosilicate glass. Whereas, most tempered glass screen protectors use traditional soda-lime glass. The brand also goes on saying that its product provides five times better protection against scratches when compared to other products. It is only 0.4mm thickness in size with 2.5D curved sides and 9H hardness. Also, the company claims it to offer better visibility with oleophobic coating to get rid of smudges and glares.

The ‘Mi Tempered Glass’ is priced at ₹399 and is only available for Redmi Note 8 Pro as of now. The box content includes the screen protector, a microfiber cloth, a wipe set, and an instruction manual.
