The Meizu 17 will be one of the first flagships equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 mobile platform in the world.

On December 23, in an interview, Liang Dongming, CTO of Meizu, revealed Meizu’s product plans for next year. He said that Meizu will launch about 4 high-end 5G smartphones in 2020. The first 5G phone will be mass-produced in the first quarter of next year.

There is every reason to think we are talking about the Meizu 17. In fact, there have been various rumors saying this phone will hit the market in the spring of 2020. And the same sources also claimed this will be the world’s first model equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 flagship platform.

The Meizu 17 should support SA and NSA dual-mode 5G networks. This is Meizu’s first 5G flagship. It will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 + Snapdragon X55 solution.

Liang Dongming said that ‘our first batch of prototypes have been completed. During this time, we are jointly debugging with Qualcomm and other component manufacturers. And the progress is relatively smooth.’ Unfortunately, he didn’t disclose any details concerning this phone.

For Meizu, the most noticeable point of this handset is the design. Since the 16 series, Meizu has always adopted a full-screen solution without bangs. The Meizu 16th, 16th Plus, 16s, 16s Pro, and other flagship products came with a design inherited in the same vein and are highly recognizable among Chinese smartphone brands.

Regarding new products and their selling points, Liang Dongming said that Meizu’s innovative solutions on lenses, screens, and UI will become the key to enhance brand competitiveness beyond 5G.
