Samsung Galaxy S20 Could Be the Company’s Next Flagship Phone, Not Galaxy S11

Samsung Galaxy S11 Plus or Galaxy S20 Plus Ultra

Like every year, Samsung will announce its next-gen flagship smartphone next year in the month of February. Considering the previous naming nomenclature, the device should come with the Galaxy S11 moniker. Well, that is what we thought since the appearance of the first information on the web. It seems like the company is planning to not follow the usual itinerary. If the recent report is to be believed, the next Galaxy flagship might actually launch as the Galaxy S20.

This leak is coming from two of the known leakers that goes by the name Ice Universe (@IceUniverse) and @MMDDJ_. According to the leakers, the chaebol will launch the Galaxy S11 as the Galaxy S20. This means that the three different variants will be called Galaxy S20e, S20 and S20 Plus.

If that’s the case, then we should also expect the next-gen Note lineup to follow the 20 monikers. This means we might see Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20+ later next year. It is worth mentioning that various other manufacturers have also gone with a similar naming scheme in the past. For instance, Honor 10’s successor was launched as Honor 20 while the Huawei P10’s successor arrived as P20. Well, we might see the South Korean brand following the same footsteps.

It is worth noting that the company has followed a similar nomenclature with the mid-range Galaxy A lineup. The new naming scheme might make some sense considering the launch of the year is also 2020. After the S20, we should see the S30 instead of the S21 moniker. We’re expecting more information on the moniker to appear in the coming weeks.
