AnTuTu is well-known for its benchmark app for smartphones. It is the go-to application to test the performance of a device other than Geekbench. Every month, the benchmarking platform publishes a report on top-performing smartphones. Now since the year is ending, the people at AnTuTu have bestowed awards to the SoCs released this year based on various criteria as part of their annual AnTuTu SoC Awards.
In 2019, we saw a launch of a number of SoCs from different manufacturers including Qualcomm, MediaTek, Samsung, and Huawei. Almost all the chipsets announced this year fared well but not all can be the best. AnTuTu has presented awards to only seven SoCs span across three different categories like ‘Strongest Performance’, ‘Technology Innovation’, and ‘Most Cost-effective’.
Before revealing the winners, we would like to list down some of the trends in SoCs released in 2019. This year, we saw a huge bump in performance in SoCs across all ranges whether it is entry-level, mid-range or high-end. Secondly, 5G support was present in all the high-end SoCs and some mid-range SoCs. We expect the 5G hype continue next year as well, bringing the support to even more SoCs. Additionally, we also saw the use of Cortex-A77 core for the first time which is expected to be used more in the coming years. Last but not least, MediaTek returned back to the game with a bang.
