The development of Artificial Intelligence popularly called “AI” has been on-going for some time. This technology seeks to use machines to replace natural human intelligence where possible. When machines have proper handling, they are usually very efficient and trustworthy. AI has been used in different gadgets including cameras. Now, the commercial city of Seoul in South Korea is taking AI camera applications to a new level.
Gizchina News of the week
According to the Korean Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, it will be the first to install 3000 predictable crime AI cameras in Seocho-gu, Seoul by July this year. From the report, these cameras can monitor the position, appearance time and behavior pattern of passers-by. This will help to determine whether the subject is walking normally or following someone. It will also help to infer the possibility of a crime and automatically issue an alarm/alert. The technology can also target sex offenders with electronic cuffs.
The Artificial Intelligence camera system will combine time and the above information to infer the probability of criminal activity. If it exceeds a certain probability, the AI system will remind the regional office and the nearby police station to send someone there. Furthermore, Seocho-gu, Seoul and the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute plan to analyze 20,000 court judgment documents and crime videos. This will help the system to teach the AI software common crime patterns.
