The sports camera market is dominated by Chinese manufacturers such as GoPro, DJI, Insta360, and others. With a plethora of manufacturers, more products are constantly entering the market. This gives users more options and it also helps to keep the prices in check. At the CES 2020 International Consumer Electronics Show, Insta360 launched the ONE R action camera. This camera consists of a lens, a host and a battery.
The main feature is the interchangeable lens function. The main unit remains the same while the camera lens space can freely interchange between three cameras – 360° panoramic action camera, 4K wide-angle action camera, and a one-inch wide-angle action camera. The one-inch version is jointly designed by Insta360 and Leica. This is also the world’s first sports camera that uses a Leica imaging technology and a one-inch sensor.

The main body of the Insta360 ONE R has a motion stabilization function. Officially, this feature is a “FlowState 2.0 stabilization technology”. The chip does image correction to achieve the electronic stabilization effect. In addition, ONE R also comes with color enhancement functions and AI intelligent recognition technology. The former can automatically adjust colors according to the actual conditions of light and color difference through the AI algorithm. Furthermore, it enhances the HDR effect, and balance the dynamic range of colors. The latter can realize the production of AI templates with one click, AI mobile delay and other functions.
At present, Insta360 ONE R is available in three versions. The 4K wide-angle lens version sells for 1998 yuan ($288). In addition, the 360° panorama and 4K wide-angle dual-lens version sell for 3198 yuan ($460) while the one-inch version comes with a 3498 yuan ($504) price tag.
