Samsung unveils T7 Touch SSD with fingerprint reader

Apart from smartphones and tablets, Samsung is also known for other products in the consumer electronics segment. One of the relatively lesser-known ones is portable SSD that Samsung releases every year in its ‘T’ and ‘X’ series. Now, the company has unveiled the latest iteration of its Samsung Portable SSD with the launch of T7 Touch SSD. For the first time, we are seeing a fingerprint reader on a portable SSD which is something we have never seen before.

This is obviously a great move by Samsung since people use SSDs to store sensitive data and the added protection of fingerprint reader means that no one can access without authorization even if lost. Apart from that, the Samsung T7 Touch supports superfast read and write speeds which are claimed to be up to 1GB/s respectively.

The most interesting part about Samsung’s T7 Touch is that they bring a lot of upgrades but start at the same price as Samsung’s T5 SSD from last year. You can get your T7 Touch in 500GB, 1TB or 2TB capacity at $129, $230 or $400 respectively in either Black or White colours. While Samsung has not revealed the exact date of this SSD’s availability, the company says it will be available “this month”.
