Honor 9X Goes Official in India with a Starting Price Tag of $197

Last month, we reported that Huawei‘s sub-brand Honor is planning to launch its next budget smartphone dubbed Honor 9X in India soon. Well, in line with the report, the Chinese smartphone maker has now added three new products to its growing portfolio in the country. It is the company’s first smartphone launch in the country after the US blacklisting. Fortunately, the device was announced before the US ban meaning the phone will receive all the latest Android updates.

Honor 9X: Price in India, First Sale Date

Honor 9X comes in two different storage variants – 4GB+128GB and 6GB+128GB storage options. The base variant of the phone is priced at INR 13,999 (roughly $197) while the top model will set you back INR 16,999 (roughly $240). Coming to the color options, the smartphone is available in Midnight Black, Blue, and Red.

The first sale of the phone will commence from January 19th on Flipkart. The brand is offering numerous launch offers that interested buyers can make use of. There is a flat INR 1,000 (roughly $14) discount during the first sale. Furthermore, ICICI bank credit cardholders can enjoy an additional 10% instant discount from January 19th to January 22nd.

Specifications, Features

Talking about the specifications, Honor 9X flaunts a 6.59-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels, an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a pixel density of 391ppi. The device makes use of a motorized pop-up camera mechanism for selfie sensors along with thin bezels on the side. Under the hood, the phone runs on the HiSilicon Kirin 710F chipset paired with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB onboard memory. The internal storage is also expandable up to 256GB via MicroSD card.

In terms of optics, there is a triple camera module at the back aligned vertically along with an LED flash. The module consists of a primary 48MP sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and an 8MP ultrawide angle lens. For selfies, there is a 16MP front snapper located inside the motorized pop-up mechanism which is present on the top edge. For biometrics, there is a physical fingerprint sensor along with software-enabled Face Unlock.

Powered by 4,000mAh battery packed inside, the phone makes use of Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 custom skin out-of-the-box. Other specifications include Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, gradient finish, and dual 4G VoLTE.
