During a private event, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella got to talk about his strategic vision for the next fifteen years.
Nadella has accustomed us to a forward-looking strategy capable of embracing other platforms. Recently, however, it seems to start looking beyond, thinking even bigger. In some recent statements, the CEO of Microsoft would like his company to go even further, aiming to reach 50 billion devices with its services that will be connected to the internet between now and 2030, including the current ones distributed between Windows, Android and iOS.
Microsoft: Nadella looks beyond Windows, Android and iOS
Gizchina News of the week
“The way I look at it is Windows is the billion user install base of ours. We continue to add a couple of hundred million PCs every year, and we want to serve that in a super good way,” explained Nadella. “The thing that we also want to think about is the broader context. We don’t want to be defined by just what we achieved. We look at if there’s going to be 50 billion endpoints. Windows with its billion is good, Android with its 2 billion is good, iOS with its billion is good — but there is 46 billion more. So let’s go and look at what that 46 billion plus 4 [billion] looks like, and define a strategy for that, and then have everything have a place under the sun.”
Nadella’s vision is so global that he calls his ambitious expansionist idea “The computer of the world”. An expression that certainly makes the idea of Microsoft’s desire to make its services more universal and independent of platforms.
It is worth to mention that Microsoft has a variety of apps on Android and iOS platforms. It includes Microsoft office apps and others. So, do you share the vision of the CEO of Microsoft? Do you think it can come true? Have your say in the comments.
