Chinese manufacturing giant, Xiaomi, has a stronghold on the Indian smartphone market. In fact, the brand has been number 1 for several quarters consecutively. According to a recent IDC report covering July to November 2019 (second half of 2019), there is good news for Xiaomi and Samsung. These brands remain the top two smartphone brand in the Indian smartphone market. However, Xiaomi still remains tops as it has been for many months, even expanding its lead.
IDC data shows that Realme’s shipments peaked in September with a market share of 16.74%, but declined sharply in October and November with 9.33% and 8.23% market share respectively. IDC says that 80% of Realme’s sales still come from online channels.

Samsung increased its market share from 16.19% in September 2019 to 19.85% and 21.08% in October and November. According to IDC, its online share also increased from 10.3% in September to 18.77% in November. Among them, the M30s mobile phone is very effective for Samsung in online sales and has driven the brand’s shipments.
Vivo also increased its overall market share from 14.31% in September 2019 to 16.92% in November. Its online market share reached the highest (12.69%) in October but fell to 9.58% in November. Vivo’s Z series performed well online, while offline, the S and Y series performed equally well. However, the U and V series demand is moderate in October and November.
