The Galaxy Z Flip reveals its performance in a benchmark on Geekbench. This new leak confirms part of the technical data sheet of the foldable flip smartphone, including the presence of Qualcomm’s SoC Snapdragon 855+.
A Galaxy Z Flip benchmark has just appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking site, report our colleagues from SamMobile. The smartphone appears under the code name “Samsung SM-F700N” and runs, without surprise, on Android 10.
Galaxy Z Flip: Snapdragon 855+ and 8 GB of RAM
As announced, the smartphone is obviously powered by a Snapdragon 855+ SoC. This is in place of the Snapdragon 865 found on the Galaxy S20 sold in the United States. The benchmark does not specify whether it is the standard Snapdragon 855 (launched in late 2018) or the Snapdragon 855+, the chipset dedicated for gaming. The latest leaks in any case count on the latter.
Gizchina News of the week
To support the SoC, Samsung has decided to integrate 8 GB of RAM. For comparison, the Galaxy S20 are equipped with a minimum of 12GB of RAM. Again, the flip smartphone sins by a technical sheet significantly less muscular than the other flagships of the brand. To lower the selling price of the Z Flip, Samsung was indeed forced to reduce the cost of the components.
Under these conditions, the Galaxy Z Flip clearly offers slightly lower performance than the Galaxy S20. According to the benchmark, the foldable smartphone climbs to a score of 725 in single-core and 2610 in multi-core. This is slightly lower than the Galaxy S20+ (Snapdragon 865) that appeared on Geekbench in January: 923 in single-core and 3267 in multi-core. The Galaxy Z Flip outperforms the Galaxy S20+ Exynos 990 version (427 in single-core and 2326 in multi-core).
Anyway, we advise you to wait for other benchmarks to get a more precise idea of the power of the smartphone. It is unclear whether the Z Flip tested is a finalized unit, ready for marketing, or a prototype, whose software optimization has not yet been completed. The final performance of the Z Flip and Galaxy S20 may indeed vary. We will tell you more as soon as possible.
