In May, Google will present its new mid-range phones, the Google Pixel 4a and 4a XL. We could already see a few months ago the design of the most basic of them, as well as rumors about the internal characteristics of each of the models. These rumors suggested that Google would provide 5G connectivity to these devices thanks to the Snapdragon 765G. But today we can confirm that this will not happen with the Google Pixel 4a. The most basic model will run out of this connectivity when using another processor.
It has been the people of XDA Developers who have had early access to this information. And taking into account the success rate they have with this type of content, we are sure that again, they have been right. To give you an idea, they predicted the 8K and 120 Hz recording of the Samsung Galaxy S20. That was long before the verified information of both features was filtered for these devices.
The Google Pixel 4a will bet on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G
Gizchina News of the week
One of the defects we saw in Google Pixel 3a was the choice of its processor. The Snapdragon 675 was not the best we found in the mid-range and less for the price of the phones. This year, it seems that the base model of the Google Pixel 4a will arrive with the Snapdragon 730G processor. It remains one of the best in the mid-range. Within the Qualcomm catalog, only the Snapdragon 765G surpasses it. This latter is expected for the 5G model or even for the XL.
In XDA Developers they have communicated that they cannot attach the evidence that has led them to relate the Google Pixel 4a with the Snapdragon 730G, they have only told us that it has been thanks to its code name “Sunfish” (Google always uses fish names for their phones). As they warn in the post that they have dedicated to this discovery, if they shared the evidence, they could lose access to that document. So we assume that they have achieved it in “mysterious” ways.
Anyway, it seems very good sign. Google would have realized the main problem of these phones and would have already put to work to solve it, offering the best mid-range processors with Google Pixel 4a. We remind you that the Pixel 4a design we already know thanks to OnLeaks for a couple of months.
I have the 3a XL, and the 670 processor is just fine.
No 5G…I think that’s a deal breaker for me 🙄 bummer.
