OnePlus 8 Pro, the next major flagship from the Chinese smartphone maker, is likely to launch sometime in May 2020. The device has been doing rounds across the internet for a while, and we have already heard details on some of its features as well. Now, a new teaser leaked online suggests that the upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro could be water-resistant.

The OnePlus 7T Pro, which was the last flagship device from the company, and its predecessor OnePlus 7-series had some kind of water resistance, but OnePlus never officially detailed an IP certification for the smartphones. The new teaser posted by Max J, a known smartphone leakster, on Twitter hints that the OnePlus 8 Pro smartphone could come with an IPXX rating, which will confirm its protection against water and dust.

Last year, OnePlus ditched the wireless charging and water/dust resistance support from its flagship. Since those features were not mainstream. However, now in 2020, every flagship device comes with wireless charging as a standard and minimum rating of IP67 certification. However, OnePlus adding water/dust resistance rating to OnePlus 8 Pro can also lead to a price bump on the smartphone.

According to the leaks and rumors so far, the smartphone is likely to have a punch-hole 120Hz refresh rate screen. The device will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of storage. It could pack a 4500 mAh battery with 50 Watt fast charging support.

The leaks also suggest that the smartphone could have a quad-camera setup at the back, with a 60-megapixel primary sensor. There are rumors of OnePlus improving the overall-camera system. Since its peers, including Samsung and Xiaomi, have caught up big time with their newest flagship smartphones. The handset will run on the latest Android 10 OS based on top of the OxygenOS custom skin.
