PlayStation official forum is going down – Where will we discuss PS5?

With discussing upcoming gaming consoles, Sony PlayStation 5 is obviously one of the hottest topics. An official forum is usually a good place to discuss upcoming gadgets for multiple reasons. You get to interact with folks who have a fair knowledge about the gadget and in many cases, you get a response from administrators. PlayStation fans from all over the world gather at Sony’s official community forum to discuss their favorite platforms and games. Since its founding in 2002, it has been a place to spend a great time on PS2, PS3, and PS4. Now, there are reports that the PlayStation official forum is shutting down.

Recently, Groovy_Matthew, administrator of the PlayStation Community Forum in the US posted that the official PlayStation Forum will officially shut down from February 27. Although Forums are interesting, the emergence of media platforms like Weibo, Twitter, Facebook, etc., is making traditional forums “irrelevant”.

Although, the forum will no longer be active Sony still encourages communication through blogs, official Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. If you want to get after-sales information, you can visit Sony’s official after-sales support website: Playstation.com/help/.

Maybe this is the end of an era. However, its just one online media replacing another online communication platform. Although the traditional forums are no longer flourishing, the end of the era of the official PlayStation forums is a bit sad.

Is the PlayStation official forum really relevant?

In many cases, traditional forums attract folks who have a strong interest in the purpose of the forum. Personally, I find the discussion on traditional forums more interesting and educative. However, open platforms like Weibo, Facebook, and Twitter attract all sorts of followers. You can find absolutely ridiculous, misleading and uninformed comments.
