Samsung officially responds to “1” notification: no effect on mobile phone

Yesterday, there were widespread reports of many Samsung devices receiving a strange notification. According to the report, Samsung sent a strange notification to Galaxy users through its “Find My Mobile”. Many but not all Galaxy users got this notification. The notification simply reads “1”. However, when users clicked on it, nothing happened.

Today, information from the Samsung Galaxy community in China shows that many Galaxy devices are also getting this notification. As of yesterday, there were unofficial reports that this was an accident. A Samsung Care staff said that the notice was a test by Samsung to check whether the “Find My Mobile” service was functioning properly. The official also said that the company would soon issue a formal statement on the matter.

Today, Samsung’s official statement reads…”in the near future, some users’ mobile phone notification bar will display “Find My Phone 1” notification. This notification is sent by accident and has no effect on your phone. Please rest assured. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. In the future, we will take measures to prevent similar incidents”. 

“Find My Mobile” is a pre-installed feature on all Samsung smartphones and allows users to remotely locate, unlock or erase phone data. So, if you are worried about this weird notification, it is not harmful to your device.
