Xiaomi released the Xiaomi Mi 10 flagship phone last week. In the Mi 10 series, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro has a built-in 4500mAh large battery, which supports 50W wired charging, 30W wireless charging and 10W wireless reverse charging. This afternoon, Xiaomi officially reviewed the history of charging development of the Xiaomi Mi digital series from “Mi 1” to “Mi 10”. Let’s take a look.
Xiaomi Mi 1 – 5W charging (2011)
The genesis of the Xiaomi Mi digital series (Xiaomi Mi 1) has a battery capacity of 1930 mAh and comes standard with 5W (5V1A) charging.
Xiaomi Mi 2 – 5W charging (2012)
Xiaomi Mi 2 still uses a detachable battery design but this time, it has a 2000 mAh battery. The charging specification is still 5W (5V1A) charging. We didn’t pay much attention to charging capacity at the time. After all, in the replaceable battery era, there is always a spare battery to solve all battery issues.
Xiaomi Mi 3 – 10W charging (2013)
For the first time, Xiaomi Mi 3 uses a non-removable battery with a “large” capacity of 3050mAh. Xiaomi Mi 3 supports Quick Charge Technology QC 2.0 as well as a 2A high-current charging head. The optional fast-charging head can achieve 10W (5V2A).
Xiaomi Mi 4 – 12W charging (2014)
Xiaomi Mi 4 is close to Xiaomi Mi 3 in battery capacity, with a 3080mAh battery. However, for the first time, it comes with a fast charge adapter as standard in the package. The adapter supports 12W (5V2A, 9V1.2A, 12V1A) charging.
Xiaomi Mi 5 – 18W charging (2016)
The Xiaomi Mi 5 battery has a capacity of 3000mAh and it uses the latest QC 3.0 charging technology of Qualcomm at the time. The charging rate increased by 20% using dual Charger parallel charging technology. It is worth noting that after Xiaomi Mi 4s and Mi 4c, Xiaomi Mi 5 uses a USB Type-C interface. This is the transition from Micro USB to Type-C.
Xiaomi Mi 6 – 18W charging (2017)
Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a 3350 mAh battery. It also boasts of a USB Type-C interface, QC 3.0 fast charge, and 18W fast charge. Furthermore, it supports PD fast charge protocol for the first time.
Gizchina News of the week
Xiaomi Mi 8 – 18W charging (2018)
Xiaomi Mi 8 has a 3400 mAh battery. It supports a USB Type-C interface and its fast charge protocol upgraded to QC 4+. It also supports 18W fast charge.
Xiaomi Mi 9 – 27W charging with 20W wireless charging (2019)
Xiaomi Mi 9 uses a 3300 mAh battery. It’s wired charging upgraded to 27W fast charging and it also comes with a 27W power adapter. Its fast charging protocol is QC 4+. Furthermore, Xiaomi Mi 9 introduced Xiaomi’s fastest 20W wireless charging at the time.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro – 40W charging, 30W wireless charging, 10W wireless reverse charging (2019)
The Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro uses a 4000 mAh battery. In terms of charging technology, this smartphone supports 40W wired + 30W wireless + 10W wireless reverse charging. It is also the first mobile phone to pass the TÜV Rheinland Secure Fast Charge 3.0 certification.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro also supports dual-frequency transmission technology and Mi-FC fast charging technology. At the same time, a 45W power adapter is standard and it can achieve full charge in 48 minutes. In addition, the power adapter is compatible with the PD protocol. Thus, it is convenient for charging laptops and other devices that support the PD protocol.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro – 50W charging, 30W wireless, 10W wireless reverse charging (2020)
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro comes with a built-in 4500 mAh large battery. It supports 50W wired charging + 30W wireless charging + 10W wireless reverse charging. Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro has been upgraded in terms of charging architecture design, battery structure design, and heat dissipation design. The double charge pump parallel design further reduces the loss during energy conversion.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro customized “battery-centered” strip battery and dual-battery connector design reduce heat during charging and prolong high-current charging time. Furthermore, the Battery Sense cell detection can detect the cell voltage and avoid sampling errors by the battery protection circuit.
This smartphone also uses the new Mi-FC fast charging technology. This feature with the cell detection technology can dynamically fine-tune the charging power of each node during the charging process to maximize the 50W fast charging performance. In terms of wireless charging, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro can charge a large 4500 mAh battery to 100% in 65 minutes.
