Back in November last year, Huawei unveiled the MatePad Pro flagship tablet with fancy features and compeling specs. Today, the company is revealing a new 5G version of the large device. This version makes use of the Kirin 990 5G SoC which comes with an integrated modem for the next-gen networks. Moreover, the new tablet also comes with seamless support to faster wireless charging modes.
Huawei MatePad Pro 5G specifications
Apart from the 5G support, the new chipset is built on a more advanced 7nm+ EUV process. Thus allowing it to run six of its eight CPU cores at a higher clock speed and the NPU was beefed up. Talking again about the new network standard, it promises 10x the downlink speeds of 4G and low latency. It’s perfect for cloud-based gaming activities. The new tablet also comes wtih 27W wireless charging support, that’s up from the 15W found in the older model. Wired Charge remains as before – 40W fast charging. Reverse charging is also supported.
The MatePad Pro boasts a 10.8-inch display with 2,560 x 1,600 pixels of resolution and 280 pixels-per-inch. The display includes support for DCI-P3 color gamut. Huawei also boasted about its thin bezels, 4.9mm, which led to 90% screen-to-body ratio. In a age of US ban, Huawei has been moving forward its software department in a hope to build a solid ecosystem to rival Google. For that reason, the MatePad Pro introduces a solid custom multitasking interface. It supports split-screen with two apps running side by side. This feature dubbed “App Multiplier” is supported by 3,000+ apps, the plan is for all top apps to support the feature. The company will expand support thanks to the Open UIKit for developers.
