Huawei Mate Xs uses a two-layer aerospace-grade polyimide flexible display material. This improves the screen strength by 80% relative to a single layer. According to Huawei’s CEO, Yu Chengdong, the price of this display is three times more expensive than gold. This means that the actual price of the display is four times the price of gold. Now the price of gold is about 450 yuan ($64) per gram, four times this amount is 1800 yuan ($257). We do not know the exact weight of this ultra-thin display but it is obviously expensive.
As a follow-up to the Huawei Mate X, the Mate Xs pioneered the eagle wing folding design. The official said that the wing hinge structure is composed of 100+ precision devices. This seamlessly supports the Mate Xs screen and folding use. The entire hinge system uses a variety of special materials with a unique manufacturing process. It uses a Zirconium-based liquid metal in key parts of the eagle wing structure. The strength of this material is comparable to that of titanium alloy, which makes the hinge more reliable.

As for the display, Huawei uses its self-developed double-layer polymer structure to aggregate two films together. It uses a flexible optical adhesive to glue the films together. This makes the display sharper and clearer.
