Redmi Note 9 Pro

Xiaomi India will be soon unveiling the Redmi Note 9 series within a few hours and there has been quite an unusual calm on the leaks front for what is Xiaomi’s most famous mid-range series in India. The processors adopted by the series has been one of the subjects of debate and speculation. However, an exclusive leak by MySmartPrice has just revealed the handset will be the first smartphone to bear a brand new MediaTek Helio P75 in its guts.

Gizchina News of the week

Interestingly, an earlier Geekbench listing of Redmi Note 9 disclosed the phone to feature a MediaTek MT6769V/CZ chipset. Back then, this SoC was unknown but now it is tipped to be the same MediaTek Helio P75. This silicon wafer will sit between MediaTek’s Helio P70 and Helio P95 chipsets as is also implied by its naming scheme. What’s more interesting is the Taiwanese chipmaker is yet to make this chip official. That means either MediaTek will announce the Helio P75 via a press release ahead of the series launch or it will be announced on the stage alongside the standard Note 9.

The MediaTek Helio P75 is expected to be an octa-core processor constituted of four Cortex-A53 cores and four Cortex-A73 cores. As for graphics, it might come with Mali-G72 MP3. Going by the configuration and Geekbench score of the chipset, it is thought to be more powerful than the Snapdragon 665 present on the Redmi Note 8. Anyway, we will know more about this new chip and the phone in a few hours from now.

Another big subject of speculation is an alleged new model called the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. This handset is supposed to be a beefed-up version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro but nothing about its launch is known. There’s a possibility that Redmi could surprise everyone by revealing it tomorrow at its online-only launch event.
