MacBook Air 2020 Biggest Highlight: Customized Intel Processor

The new Macbook Air 2020 uses a scissors-type magic keyboard, replacing the troublesome butterfly keyboard of the previous generation. According to Apple, the new Macbook Air uses the latest 10th generation Intel Core processors, with a choice of up to quad-core Core i7. Turbo Boost runs at up to 3.8GHz. Compared with the previous generation, the performance of the MacBook Air 2020 has doubled. With the Intel Iris Plus Graphics, this laptop now has 80% faster graphics processing.

According to Apple’s official introduction, this model uses an Intel Ice Lake-U processor based on a 10nm process. Apple’s custom processor is higher than the corresponding model on Intel’s official website. Intel’s public version of the i7-1060G7 processor has a main frequency of 1GHz, a core frequency of 3.8GHz, a TDP of 9W, and a 12W configurable TDP with a main frequency of 1.3GHz.

In addition, the MacBook Air 2020 model has an i5 processor variant. The clock frequency is 1.1GHz, while the Intel public version of the i5-1030G7 clocked at 800MHz.

Storage

Thanks to the 10nm Core processor upgrade, the MacBook Air 2020 model is also equipped with faster and stronger 3733MHz LPDDR4X memory, up to 16GB.

The new Macbook Air storage space starts at 256GB (SSD) and can reach up to 2TB. It is also equipped with Apple T2 Security Chip, a three-microphone array, and supports external displays up to 6K. It has a USB-C charging cable and a 30W USB-C power adapter.

    mmm 10nm is 3.8 GHz maximum while 14nm can reach 4.9 GHz
