Samsung recently published the full kernel source code for the Exynos-powered Galaxy S20 phones. The folks at XDA-Developers quickly dug in the code and found some interesting news. According to the code, there are several clues about the upcoming Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold 2 and a phone that is related to the Z Flip.
The Galaxy Note 20 reportedly goes under the code name “Canvas”, which means that the C2 is a Note model. Will, there be a C0 and C1? It’s still unclear, but there’s also reference to Kona. If you’re unaware, that’s the code name for the Snapdragon 865 chipset that constantly pops up in benchmarks. If Qualcomm will repeat the last year’s strategy and launch a new Snapdragon 865+ later this year, only time will tell, but apparently, Samsung won’t use it in the upcoming flagships.
Gizchina News of the week
The company didn’t use the Snapdragon 855+ chipset on the Galaxy Note 10 series either. So we don’t see a problem in not using a possible 865+ on the Note 20 phones. Worth noting that this Snapdragon variant is slated for the US. So it’s too early to tell what chipset will be used on the European and Latin American models.
The code also reveals a WIN2, aka Winner 2, the successor to the Galaxy Fold. This one will feature the same Snapdragon 865, including in Europe. Finally, we have the Zodiac Project which seems to be related to the Galaxy Z Flip. Because it uses the same Snapdragon 855+ found in the Z Flip, this seems to be just a particular version for Chinese carriers.
