Honor 30S about to start appointment: first phone with a Kirin 820 chip

Honor, latest smartphone, Honor 30S will officially arrive on March 30. However, our recent search on JD.com shows that this smartphone already has a landing page. The device is currently “Out of stock, this product is temporarily sold out”. There is also information on the page which says “Appointment is about to start”. This means that the Honor 30S will commence appointment soon.

According to Xiong Junmin, vice president of Honor Business Department, the Honor 30S will use a Kirin 820 chip. This smartphone is also the first mobile phone to use this chip. Xiong Junmin also said that Honor 30S 5G strength is quite strong. This SoC will probably compete against other mid-range 5G chips like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G and MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000.

The Kirin 820 5G chip will use Huawei’s self-developed DaVinci architecture NPU. This chip uses the 7nm process and comes with A76 CPU and G77 GPU. In addition, the ISP and NPU are fully upgraded to support Kirin Gaming. Furthermore, the Honor 30S will come with a side fingerprint recognition solution. It will also use a quad-rear camera setup with a 40W power adapter. This smartphone will be available in gradient white and orange colours. 

 The 5G modem that comes with the processor will feature ‘industry-leading’ interference suppression tech so that it can maintain a stable and fast connection even in more congested areas. Furthermore, it will be battery-efficient due to the usage of AI intelligent scheduling algorithms. The modem will be also capable of switching over to new base stations quickly to maintain a stable connection. Lastly, it will have support for dual SIM, which will enable 4G VoLTE calls on one SIM and 5G internet connection on another SIM at the same time. What do you think about the Honor 30S or its new Kirin 820 5G chip?
