It was in December last year when we came to know about an upcoming OnePlus device that the company would be launching to target the premium mid-range market. Renders of the said device, currently known as the OnePlus 8 Lite, leaked for the first time attracting a lot of eyeballs. Now, new information on the horizon suggests that the handset could be called OnePlus Z. Moreover, this isn’t just a one-off product like the OnePlus X. Instead, it’s a new series that OnePlus will sustain and re-populate each year with new models, suggests a tip by Max Weinbach.
The source referred to it as "OnePlus Z" and said the hardware matched the previous OnePlus 8 Lite render. https://t.co/zB5PN9nQjW

Gizchina News of the week
In fact, the OnePlus Z series is actually a continuation of the short-lived OnePlus X and it has the same design as the OnePlus 8 Lite, as per the source of the tip. So, it would be safe to say that the OnePlus 8 Lite is the OnePlus Z.
We’ve already seen the renders, so let’s talk about specifications of the OnePlus 8 Lite which have largely remained under wraps. Buzz is that the handset could feature the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC with a 6.5-inch display (possibly AMOLED) with 90Hz refresh rate. The handset is said to include a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel secondary lens, and a third 12-megapixel lens on its back. The suggested UK retail pricing for the OnePlus 8 Lite could be as low as £400 (~$515) — according to Ishan Argawal.
OnePlus is likely to launch the new series sometime next month, but it’s possible that the launch will be first in China considering Europe, India, and the US are under tight lockdown.
I hope that this MTK will be different then before….more opens to customers, and with less overheating….so Oneplus could continue to support this phone like they do all others. All MTK devices that I remember using, had one unforgivable problem, and that is updates.
Non of them ever had update.
