After a myriad of leaks and rumors, Huawei’s subsidiary Honor finally revealed a new low-end smartphone dubbed Honor Play 9A. The new handset comes with the mission of becoming the low-end customer’s first choice in a marked fulfilled with different options. Let’s dive into the specifications to know if Honor managed to make a truly remarkable low-end handset.

Honor Play 9A specifications

Under the hood, the new Honor device boasts MediaTek’s Helio P35 chipset. It’s an Octa-Core chipset with eight Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 2.0GHz. For graphical tasks, it employs the PowerVR GE8320 GPU. The processing power is paired with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. If that isn’t enough for you, you’ll be glad to know that microSD cards are supported.

This display makes use of a waterdrop notch solution that serves as a house for the 8MP selfie snapper. One of the main selling points of the Honor Play undoubtedly is its 5,000mAh battery. However, there’s a small catch since the smartphone ships with the dated micro USB port. That means that the charging rate will be limited to 10W, so it will probably take several hours to fully replenish the battery. Another interesting feature is Huawei’s Histen 6.0 audio tech that promises 88dB of music through the loudspeaker.

Other features include Dual-SIM functionality, 4G and VoLTE support, 2.4GHz Wi-FI b/g/n and Bluetooth 5.0. The handset runs Android 10 straight out the box with Magic UI 3.0 running atop.

The new Honor smartphone can be pre-ordered from vmall.com. The 64GB variant retails for CNY 900 ($125 or €115) while the 128GB will cost you CNY 1,200. The Play 9A is available in Blue Emerald, Jasper Green and Night Black colors.

The phone is exclusively available in the company’s domestic market. But we won’t discard a future international release.
